Turning your PS5 into a liquid cooled PS5 probably isn’t something you’ve thought about. And if that’s the case, that’s perfectly understandable. After all, the PS5 stays more than cool enough during gaming thanks to its large fans. So long as you don’t stuff the console into a tiny, enclosed space to ensure it has a reasonable amount of airflow.

But what if you had a liquid cooled PS5? How cool would that be? Pretty darn cool I reckon. And it seems the fine folks over at EK Water Blocks reckon the same thing. Because they just created a monoblock for the PS5 that actually adds liquid cooling to all of its components (via The Verge). With this unit you can essentially turn your PS5 console into a custom loop console. Allowing you to become the envy of your friends with their very regular PS5s. This does come with a some very large caveats though. The cost for one.

This liquid cooled PS5 monoblock demands a hefty sum

The ‘QuantumX’ comes from EK Water Blocks which makes the same kind of hardware for gaming and enthusiast PCs. These are parts that aren’t cheap. Neither is the QuantumX as it’ll cost you $450. Not a cost many are probably willing to pay. But if you wanted to amp up your console’s design and cooling performance, this is how you could do it with flair.

If you’re ok with the price tag, keep in mind that this isn’t where your additional costs stop. You will still need to buy all of the other gear needed to create a custom loop PS5 console. This includes tubing for the liquid, fittings to secure those tubes, fans, a power supply unit, the liquid itself, plus a case to fit everything in. At the end of all that you’re looking at having invested well over $1,000. Then there’s the matter of putting everything together. A not so easy task since you’d have to take apart your PS5 completely first.

But if this is the sort of thing you’re into then EK has you covered. Because there’s a how-to guide on how to complete this process. You can watch that guide below. The QuantumX is currently available for pre-order at EK’s website and it’s expected to ship out in late October.
