YouTube TV is one of several online TV streaming options on the internet, and it’s been growing over the years. According to a new report from research firm MoffettNathanson (via 9To5Google), YouTube TV just hit 6.3 million users as other streaming services saw a drop.

We’re not talking about streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, or Disney+. We’re talking about streaming services that Focus primarily on providing an online portal for live television. This includes services such as Hulu Live TV, WOW TV, SlingTV, and so on.

YouTube TV hits 6.3 million users

The online television market is growing, as more households are cutting cords. A lot of people get their live television from online services rather than from traditional cable providers. In fact, traditional live TV services are at an all-time low since 1992.

As of 2023, just under 60% of households have some sort of traditional cable television service installed. This means that online TV services could eventually tip the scale as the dominant form of live television entertainment.

Helping this process along, we have YouTube TV. Even though it raised its prices back in March, the streaming service saw an inflow of about 300,000 new subscribers in Q1 2023. That’s an impressive number, and it’s made even more impressive by the fact that other notable TV services have seen drops in the same quarter.

Hulu TV lost about 100,000 users and Fubotv lost around 160,000. Sling TV sits on the top of the pack losing a whopping 200,000 users. The diminishing global economy seems to be one of the main reasons that people are dropping their services. However, YouTube TV seems to be doing well for itself.
