YouTube Music is always adding new features and UI changes to keep the experience fresh. According to 9To5Google, YouTube Music just revamped the Now Playing UI, and it adds a new feature to make certain functions more accessible.

The Now Playing UI is what people interact with the most on YouTube Music. It offers a quick view of some important functions like saving music to playlists, looking at lyrics, finding related tracks, etc. The company recently revamped the Now Playing UI, so it’s a bit of a surprise to see another change.

YouTube revamped the Now Playing UI again

While this change comes not too long after the last change, it’s not very significant. Most of the interface is left unchanged, and only a few things have been moved around.

Firstly, the title and artist names are justified to the left rather than being in the center. This, unfortunately, leaves a lot of empty space under the album art. The song title used to be flanked by the like and dislike buttons. However, they now sit just below the artist name.

What’s perhaps the most notable change is the addition of several chips sitting on a carousel under the artist name. The carousel contains the primary functions that you would find in the three-dot menu.

In the screenshot, we see the Save To Playlist, Share, Download, and Radio buttons as chips. If you want to see more functions, you’ll simply have to swipe toward the left.

The other changes are very minor. The play/pause button will be solid white as opposed to complying with the album art color. Also, the progress bar sits just a little bit lower.

So, overall, not much has changed in the UI. We’re not quite sure what the rest of the functions will be on the carousel. This could probably have an impact on the three-dot menu up top, bringing down certain functions to be accessed in one tap. If you’re looking forward to this change, make sure your app is fully updated.
