The Lagos fashion scene is where the most unexpected wardrobe alliances are formed. Here, tomboy fashion mashes up with girly mini dresses in a beautiful symphony. While loungewear bottoms speak comfort, the ritzy frocks usher in the party girl vibe. Indeed, when fashion enters the group chat, everything adjusts to accommodate its demanding personality. Fashion is a story and every Naija style star has a chapter dedicated to her sartorial explorations.

The ability to use traditional textures in contemporary fashion is required to stay relevant in 2024. After all, the world is still basking in its gloriousness. Nigerian designers often blend these fabrics to create simplistic ensembles or daring designs, and the stars sure know how to rock them with gusto. This is a nod towards creativity and upholding our roots. It would be an anomaly if African prints were celebrated more at international fairs, runways, and events, whereas at home, familiarity insulates its impact.

For the publicity of her movie “Something Like Gold,” actress Sandra Okunzunwa stayed in character in a chic, red mini dress. The mono-sleeve frock featured three bold rosette details that drew attention to the piece. The offering was enlivened with a black bag, bold sunglasses, and PVC spike pumps. The dress fitting to the frame was an added advantage, with an effect that was nothing short of confident.

African prints have always had global relevance, but now they are everywhere, and for good reason. Actress Shaffy Bello wore an Afrocentric Janae style set–a fusion of modern silhouettes and a traditional blend of Aso Oke and Adire. The asymmetric hem top, constructed as a dashiki, punched up the wide-hem bottoms with full finesse. It helped that both textures blended effortlessly, as they shared peaceful shades of blue. The actress introduced a big bag into the mix with a texture, construct, and quality that screamed rich without trying.

A sporty black and white outfit is the perfect fit for the airport. Travel light, comfortable, and stylish–that’s the code. Actress Nancy Isime put white chunky sneakers to work with a black turtleneck top, oversized palazzo pants, a silver baguette bag, and bold sunglasses for good measure. Rocking an oversized and dapper outfit that allows you to eat without judgment and still maintain steeze is the best travel move to make.

#4. Veekee James

Looking rich is a function of your pocket and skill. Decking a designer ensemble head-to-toe is no guarantee that you will nail the look, but understanding styling is essential. Designer Veekee James has the propensity for both, with her designs taking precedence. Recently, she turned heads with a color-blocking move. Featuring a flamboyant yellow blouse with exaggerated “wings” for sleeves, tailored orange wide-legged pants, and a gold purse, she went full-blown boss chic mode.

#5. Apet Modella

Denim mini skirts allow the versatility a girly girl desires. You can sport them to achieve any feminine theme. Model Apet got creative with white pumps and matching socks, with orange hints that complemented her orange hat, and a white t-shirt tucked into a denim mini skirt. The stand-out feature of this look was the fitting. The next was her legs. Showing off your legs without giving away much is a skillful move with a ladylike appeal.

#6. Toke Makinwa

Media personality Toke Makinwa threw a fit with this fit. Okay, I admit my mediocre attempt at a pun, but you will agree that it’s an inarguable hit to spin denim into a serious look. Makinwa opted for a cold-shoulder denim jacket with oversized sleeves styled with loose-fitting cut-out jeans. The look alone is a statement, yet she chose to inject orange tints with her handbag and sunglasses. Consider an orange and denim merger for a chic output.

Nigerian content creator, Kie Kie, as she’s popularly called, is one Naija style star who always comes correct. She wore an Ankara print set, featuring an unbuttoned cropped jacket and a mini skirt, with popping red pumps and a matching bag. First, the mini skirt had pockets. Second, the Accost Collection set held an organized placement of embellishments. Very cutesy. This season, proud tones in diverse prints have flooded mainstream fashion. When in doubt, throw in red accessories for razzle-dazzle.
