WhatsApp is one of the most used messaging platforms for large organizations, and the meta-owned company continues to add new features. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp could eventually let users schedule group calls.
This is a feature that’s in testing, so chances are that you won’t see it. Also, there’s no guarantee that it will be made available to the public. If you’re an Android beta tester, then you might have a chance to see this feature. Make sure your device has the latest version of the beta software (version 2.23.17.6).
WhatsApp could let you schedule group calls
Sometimes, people have group calls on a need-to-call basis. However, other times, people need to have group calls at planned times and dates. For times like those, this feature could come in handy. According to the source, you’ll be able to set a specific time a group call will start.
If you are a part of the testing group, you only need to press the call button. You’ll also be able to start a call within a group chat. Instead of initiating the call, you’ll see the option to set an appointment. A panel will pop up from the bottom of the screen with the options to customize your group call.
At the top of the panel, you’ll name your group call, and then you’ll choose what type of call it is; voice or video. Under that, you’ll be able to choose the date and time that you want the call to begin.
After that, members in the group chat will see a chat telling them about the call. The chat will display all of the information you put down, and it will give them the option to join it. If a member joins it, they will be notified 15 minutes before the call starts. We’re not sure, but we’re also certain that it will also notify them when the chat starts.
At this point, we don’t know when to expect this feature to land, so just be on the lookout for the feature. Also, make sure that you keep your app fully updated.
