WhatsApp has a massive beta testing community, and there are always several features on the way. There’s a new one in testing according to WABInfo, and this will help make finding Channels much easier. According to the source, WhatsApp is looking to let you search for Channels.
If you’re unfamiliar with Channels, don’t feel bad. This feature is not out yet. WhatsApp Channels will be similar to Telegram and Instagram Channels. Think of them as a public chat where only one person is able to post messages. People will be able to subscribe to these Channels to get updates. It’s a one-to-all chat room.
WhatsApp could make the search for your favorite Channels much easier
WhatsApp has been working on bringing Channels to the app, and we’re still waiting for it to land. When it does eventually launch, people are going to want to search for interesting Channels that pique their interest. To make this easier, WhatsApp will have a dedicated Search tool for Channels.
In a screenshot shared by WABInfo, we see how it’s going to look. In the screenshot, we see a search bar up top. Obviously, people will type in the name or keywords for the channel that they want to join.
This feature is already helpful enough. However, the app will provide you with three different filters to help further refine your search. At the bottom of the screen, you will see the option to organize the results alphabetically, by popularity, and by how recently they were added. So, if you don’t know specifically what Channel you’re looking for, mixing up the results can help you spot the one that you want.
WhatsApp we’ll let you search for Channels when the feature launches, but we’re still in the dark about when it will officially hit phones. It’s currently available to select beta testers but not all of them. So, if you are part of the WhatsApp beta program, then there’s a chance that you won’t see the feature.
Only time will tell when we will see this feature hit the public.
