More functional features coming to the WhatsApp group chat settings with a future update. This feature will come in handy for those that are admins or members of a group chat. At this time, the settings on a group chat are basic and a bit bland.
WhatsApp aims to make things a bit more fun by adding some icons and toggle switches. Also, they intend to remap the setting options, but won’t add a new feature to the settings page. This new settings layout will give admins more control over the group chat.
The new group chat settings layout will also organize controls into various sections for functionality. These changes are already available to WhatsApp Beta testers who have shared some details with the public. From the details and images they gave, it is clear that simplicity is of the essence with the new WhatsApp group chat settings layout.
A coming update will simplify the WhatsApp group chat settings interface
According to WABetaInfo this interface revamp is currently in beta testing and some users have access to it. They were able to share images of this feature showing off the new interface side by side with the old interface. This gives a clearer picture of what changes a user should expect with the coming WhatsApp group chat settings layout.
The current layout, although simple, lacks visual appeal whilst aiming to be straight to the point. But changing settings on the current layout requires the admin to tap on the available options to access a different menu. So most changes require two or three taps before they can reflect on the group chat, and this isn’t as simple as it claims to be.
When it comes to the design of the new layout, things get simpler and easier to use. Instead of pop-up menus, WhatsApp now uses a toggle for most options, the option to edit group admins. Next, there are now three categories on the group chat settings page Participants can, Admins can, and Group admins.
These categories make things a bit easy for group admins looking out to change a few settings. They can now easily find a category the setting they are looking for falls under and then flip a toggle. Instead of taking two or three taps to get things done, admins can now change settings by simply flipping a toggle either on or off.
Considering that this feature is already in its beta testing phase, it is only a matter of time before it rolls out globally. It will join a ton of other design layout changes that WhatsApp is making to its Android app. In the coming weeks, these changes will be made available via an app update from the Google Play Store and the App Store.
