Walmart is continuing to celebrate the endless potential of the Black community through its Black & Unlimited initiatives. As part of its mission to foster true equity and amplify Black voices, Walmart is proud to be the presenting sponsor of Pharrell Williams’ SOMETHING IN THE WATER (SITW) festival in Virginia Beach, VA, from Friday, April 28 to Sunday, April 30, 2023.
And to mark this occasion, they’re partnering with NTWRK to release a special limited edition Walmart x SOMETHING IN THE WATER capsule collection featuring unique designs from Virginia-based artist Hampton Boyer.
Here are a few important details to note about the Walmart x SITW capsule…
- Walmart’s Black & Unlimited platform celebrates the unlimited potential of the Black community and reinforces Walmart’s commitment to creating lasting equity.
- In addition to the music and cultural experiences, SITW also prioritizes community engagement and social impact. Created by Pharrell Williams and taking place in Virginia Beach, Virginia (his hometown!), the festival features a diverse lineup of musicians and cultural experiences, as well as community engagement initiatives that support local organizations and entrepreneurs.
- Hampton Boyer is a self-taught, multidisciplinary artist from Virginia, who was tapped to design the Walmart x SOMETHING IN THE WATER festival merch, interpreting it through his resounding aesthetic. Boyer has shown his work in solo exhibitions at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art and co-founded 670 Gallery in Hampton, Virginia. Hampton Boyer’s artwork is largely influenced by his experiences in Hampton Roads, and Walmart is honored to amplify the voices of African American/Black artists and entrepreneurs as part of their initiative.
- This collaboration with Walmart aims to bring visibility to Black artists and entrepreneurs and celebrate the unlimited potential of the Black community. The limited edition Walmart x SOMETHING IN THE WATER capsule includes two exclusive pieces: a festival-ready t-shirt and a versatile tote bag. With prices set at $55 for the t-shirt and $30 for the tote, these unique items offer a stylish way to show your support for Black artists and entrepreneurs, while celebrating the unlimited potential of the Black community.
- Each item will be made available separately via a NTWRK drawing. The limited edition Walmart x SOMETHING IN THE WATER products will be showcased in an exclusive NTWRK episode airing on 4/28 at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT, while the drawing will close promptly at 8:30 p.m. ET/ 5 :30 p.m. PT after the conclusion of the episode.
