Swifties, get ready for the big game in Vegas

Congratulations to the AFC Conference Championship winners Kansas City Chiefs (and Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, tight end Travis Kelce) for their win against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. The Chiefs (and likely Taylor Swift) will be heading to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas on Feb. 11, where they’ll face off against either the Detroit Lions or the San Francisco 49ers, who are vying for the NFC Conference Championship on Sunday night. This will be the fourth time in the last five seasons that the Chiefs have played in the Super Bowl.

Before the game, Swift showed up to the stadium dressed in a red sweater and wearing classic red lipstick, repping the Chiefs’ signature red color, and smiling for the cameras. After the 17-10 win, the couple celebrated on the field, flashing smiles and sharing hugs and kisses.

Swift has been present cheering on Kelce for numerous games through the season since they began dating, from kicking off 2024 at the Chiefs’ wild card game against the Miami Dolphins to closing out 2023 at their New Year’s Eve game, and bringing her famous friends along since the first Chiefs game she attended back in September. Along the way during their budding romance, an NFL announcer accidentally referred to Swift as Kelce’s wife (manifest!) and Kelce also traveled to watch Swift perform.

Despite the couple being high profile, they have been working with each other to ignore the headlines. “The only thing we’ve talked about is that as long as we’re happy we can’t listen to anything that’s outside noise,” Kelce said during a press conference on Friday leading up to this weekend’s big game.

Non-football-related news surrounding Swift also made rounds last week, when AI-generated graphic images of the pop star went viral on X, formerly Twitter, which spurred significant conversation online as well as on Capitol Hill regarding the need for more protections against artificial intelligence and moderating content. SAG-AFTRA called the AI-generated Swift content “harmful and deeply concerning” on Friday. “The development and dissemination of fake images — especially those of a lewd nature — without someone’s consent must be made illegal,” the union said. X temporarily blocked searches of “Taylor Swift” this weekend in response, stating: “This is a temporary action and done with an abundance of caution as we prioritize safety on this issue.”

While X instituted a temporary ban on searching Swift’s name, posts showing her celebrating at the game could still be found when searching her name plus Kelce’s or Chiefs. Swifties, we’re heading to the big game. Are you …Ready For It?
