The Super Bowl-bound Kansas City Chiefs have a deep history with the championship game. In the mid-Sixties, the team’s founder, Lamar Hunt, led them to the first-ever Super Bowl, for which he is credited with coining the name. They’ve been back quite a few times since, including in 2020 when they won their first Super Bowl title in 50 years, facing off against the San Fransisco 49ers. They’ll return later this month, facing off with the 49ers once again, but this time, they have a secret weapon on their team: Taylor Swift.

During the latest New Heights podcast episode, hosted by Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, the pair of brothers decided congratulations were in order for the singer. “Also, shout out to the newest members of the Chiefs Kingdom — Swift — who has officially reached the Super Bowl in her rookie year,” Jason joked in response to viral posts about Swift, who has been dating Travis for a few months now. “Shout out to Tay,” Travis added, laughing. “Thanks for joining the team.”

Travis and Swift were photographed from every possible angle as they celebrated on the field after the Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, becoming winners of the AFC Conference Championship. Super Bowl LVIII will take place in Las Vegas on Feb. 11, and Swift’s potential attendance seemed to generate more buzz than the team’s achievement itself.

Swift will resume the Eras tour with four shows in Tokyo, Japan, in February. The last of those shows at Tokyo Dome is scheduled for Feb. 10, the night before the big game. But luckily, sports reporters have already done the essential work of crunching the numbers and timezones to be sure she can pull off the appearance.

“Taylor Swift performs in Japan the night before the Super Bowl. It will end around 10pm Tokyo time (5 am Las Vegas time),” reporter Darren Rovell tweeted. “The flight from Tokyo to Vegas takes 12 hours, meaning Swift can arrive at 5pm local on the day before the Super Bowl, 25 hours, 35 mins before kickoff.”

Give or take a few hours, the math seems to be adding up. Plus, it helps that Swift has her handy-dandy private jet, which created estimated total flight emissions of 8,293.54 tonnes of carbon in the early months of 2022.
