New information from the Tourism Corporation of Bonaire shows that tourism on this Dutch Caribbean island continues to grow faster than before the pandemic.

In July, the island counted 14,133, overnight tourists, 8% more than Bonaire’s 13,000 visitors during the same period in 2019.

That demonstrates what officials described as Bonaire’s “continuous balanced growth and attractiveness as a prime travel destination.”

The island received widespread attention throughout the month of June as a result of Bonaire Rum Week and the brand-new Bonaire Yoga and Wellness Festival.

With 48 percent of all visitors coming from the Netherlands, Dutch travelers continue to dominate island arrivals. From the U.S. came 3,488 people, or about 25 percent of the total.

This included a significant increase in first-time visitors to the island, which accounted for approximately 43% of all arrivals for the month.

In addition, 16,442 cruise passengers came to Bonaire in July on four different cruise lines.
