Europa, an upcoming indie action-adventure game, is said to look like a cross between a Legend of Zelda game and a Studio Ghibli film.

Europa is an indie game made by a former Blizzard developer and boasts over 250,000 wishlists on Steam. It’s been compared to both The Legend of Zelda and Studio Ghibli movies but unfortunately for excited fans, the game was delayed earlier this year. It now has a release date of October 11.

The game’s Steam page reads, “On the moon Europa, a lush terraformed paradise in Jupiter’s shadow, an android named Zee sets out in search of answers. Run, glide and fly across the landscape, solve mysteries in the ruins of a fallen utopia, and discover the story of the last human alive.”

Nintendo Life wrote, “It gives us serious Breath of the Wild vibes with a Studio Ghibli-style, and we can’t wait to jump in.” The game features gorgeous, open-world landscapes that make the Zelda comparisons plain to see.

“It is a video game with a setting in the best Studio Ghibli style and, best of all, there is already a demo available,” wrote matenintendero on X (formerly Twitter). “We’ve come across the free demo of Europa, a game in development that reminds us a lot of Studio Ghibli for its animations,” tweeted pdpartidagames.

“All my Studio Ghibli fans and gamers check out the Europa Demo on the switch it’s so cute,” said Acetheslut265.

The aesthetic is not accidental. GamesRadar+ wrote, “Europa’s strong Ghibli influence became immediately apparent. As confirmed in an interview by Creative Director Helder Pinto, films such as Howl’s Moving Castle, Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, and Castle in the Sky significantly shaped the artistic direction and overall atmosphere of the game.”
