London is the most popular destination for overseas travelers this year. That’s according to data from Delta Air Lines provided to Travel + Leisure. Delta will offer 20 percent more flights to London than it did in the summer 2019 to meet rising demand.

The second most popular international travel destination for the summer after London was Cancun, followed by Paris, Rome, and Tokyo (Delta recently launched a service from Los Angeles to Tokyo). Amsterdam, Montego Bay in Jamaica, Athens, Los Cabos and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

The information was derived from queries made on Delta.com between November 2022 and March 2023 for travel between June and August of the current year.

Overall, it looks like the summer is going to be a busy one for travel. According to a Delta report last month, overseas flights for the summer are already 75% full. In addition, international airfares are expected to rise to a 5-year high, with the increase attributed to a combination of low supply, expensive fuel and high demand.

However, the rising costs aren’t necessarily discouraging vacationers from booking trips; a recent Tripadvisor survey found that 82 percent of respondents intended to travel in the following three months. Among them, 60% claimed they would spend more money this summer than they did the year before.

Travelers should think about planning wisely if they want to save some money on an international trip. For instance, hotel prices in Paris are lowest from June 19 to June 25, while in London they are lowest from August 28 to September 3. That’s according to a statement sent to T+L by Alice Jong, a senior analyst for research and insights in Tripadvisor’s media department.
