It’s official—one of the most prestigious events in the tourism industry, the World Travel & Tourism Council’s (WTTC) Global Summit, will take place in Rome next year, officials confirmed.

The major event, last hosted in Europe five years ago, gathers industry leaders, government officials, as well as all types of international experts to discuss the latest trends and pressing issues in the travel and tourism sector.

But more than just an academic event, this global summit serves as a platform for networking and policy development, with a strong focus on promoting sustainable tourism.

At the end of the successful 2024 Summit in Perth, Western Australia, WTTC President & CEO Julia Simpson, shared exciting news for Europe: the event will return to the Old Continent in 2025.

“The success of our 2024 Global Summit is a testament to the enduring appeal and innovation within the Travel & Tourism sector,” said Simpson. “I want to extend my thanks to the team at Tourism Western Australia for all their work in making this Summit a reality. History shows that all roads lead to Rome, and in 2025 that’s certainly true as we head to a global city steeped in history, yet vibrantly forward-looking.”

This time around, the Italian Ministry of Tourism will play a key role in organizing the prestigious 2025 Global Summit.

For the time being, organizers have not disclosed many details about keynote speakers and topics to be covered. However, considering that in 2019 former U.S. President Barack Obama made an appearance, it’s expected that prominent international figures will also accept the invitation.

Unfortunately, this is not an open event for the general public. Thus, we cannot speak about the advantages for you to take part in it as participation typically requires an invitation, WTTC membership, or connections through sponsors.

However, for those interested in making or strengthening connections in the tourism sector, many sessions are accessible to industry professionals for a fee via online platforms.

Let’s say that you are invited or have the opportunity to participate, don’t miss the chance to do it—the Summit offers unique networking opportunities to gain insights into global trends and engage in key conversations that can potentially shape the future of the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries.
