Caribbean tourism keeps breaking all pre-pandemic records! The US Virgin Islands (USVI) achieved a record-breaking milestone in 2024, welcoming a total of 2,703,187 visitors, a testament to the islands’ growing appeal as a premier destination in the Caribbean. This figure includes 932,265 air arrivals and 1,770,922 cruise passengers, reflecting strong demand for the region’s unique blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and luxury experiences.
St. Thomas and St. Croix, the main hubs of the USVI, played a significant role in driving this surge in tourism. Air arrivals reached unprecedented levels, showcasing the success of enhanced airline connectivity, including additional routes from major U.S. cities. Cruise passenger numbers also soared, reaffirming the USVI’s position as a top destination for Caribbean cruise itineraries.
Tourism Commissioner Joseph Boschulte celebrated the milestone, noting, “This extraordinary achievement highlights the US Virgin Islands as a must-visit destination for travelers worldwide. The efforts of our tourism team, local stakeholders, and industry partners have made 2024 a banner year for our islands.”
The islands’ attractions, ranging from pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters to vibrant cultural festivals and historic landmarks, continue to draw a diverse array of visitors. Year-round appeal and a commitment to enhancing the visitor experience have further solidified the USVI’s standing in the competitive Caribbean tourism market.
