ith fashion, there will always be a reason to go over the top to make a statement. But there are other times when a chic and easy ensemble can still pack as much punch. Last week, we got the best of both worlds as celebrities and their glam team made a show with unapologetic slay. New York Fashion Week started with a bang, and it wasn’t out of character to see a parade of elegant ensembles making their rounds. From interesting silhouettes to trendy textures and tailored cuts, the week was filled with outfits that passed the vibe check.
The Looks
Kelly Rowland is obviously in her slay girl era thanks to her serial sleek renderings. From snatched-waist numbers to exciting denim takes, the star is on top of her sartorial game. Last week, Rowland was awarded Fashion Icon of the Year at the Harlem’s Fashion Row event, and per usual, showed up to turn necks. The star spoke volumes in an Asho Studio corset dress with exaggerated sleeves, a daring slit, and a train for good measure. Talk about making a chic statement!
Beyoncé said chrome, and your favorite celebrities aligned. Last week, for another leg of Queen Bey’s Renaissance show, Quinta Brunson stayed true to the theme in a metallic Rick Owens mini dress. Her silver boots and chic hairdo set this look on a sleeker-than-average level.
Elsewhere, Teyana Taylor rocked to the maximum a black jumpsuit from Naomi Campbell‘s Pretty Little Thing collection to the collab launch party. Although simple, she amplified the outfit by leveraging the power of accessories. Prominent layers of necklaces and rings, upbeat earrings, and a baseball hat tied the ensemble together. Indeed, Taylor is famous for eating and leaving no crumbs.
