The Tulum International Airport “Felipe Carrillo Puerto” is about to be completed. Meanwhile, the airlines that have confirmed the first routes that will connect with this air terminal have started selling the first tickets.
A few days ago, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that on the day of the inauguration, he would fly from the Felipe Ángeles International Airport to the Tulum air terminal on a Sedena flight for the inaugural protocol, however, he will not be the first to inaugurate the airport.
Both Aeroméxico and Vivaaerobus will begin operations at the air terminal before the president’s arrival.
Vivaaerobus will be the first airline to operate from this terminal under the TQO code. Its first operation is scheduled for December 1, departing from Felipe Ángeles International Airport at 8:00 a.m., and arriving at Tulum International Airport at 11:15 a.m. The cost of this commercial flight is $909 (US52.87).
Meanwhile, Aeroméxico has its first flight this same day, departing from Felipe Ángeles International Airport at 8:30 a.m. to arrive at Tulum International Airport at 11:30 a.m. for $3,985 pesos (US231.41).
International airlines that announced flights to Tulum Airport
Delta Airlines has the distinction of being the first international carrier to offer service to the new Tulum International Airport (TQO). This month, they announced the initiation of nonstop direct flights from Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) beginning on March 28. Joining the competition, Spirit Airlines, another major U.S. airline, is set to provide nonstop direct flights to Tulum, as reported by local media. While specific details are yet to be disclosed on their website, reports from media in Cancun indicate that Spirit Airlines plans to launch flights from their Florida bases, including Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).
Further expanding the connectivity, American Airlines has officially confirmed its daily flight operations to Tulum. Starting March 28, 2024, the airline is scheduled to offer four daily flights to Tulum. This schedule includes two daily flights from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), a daily service from Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), and an additional daily flight originating from Miami International Airport (MIA). This development marks a significant boost in air travel options for those looking to visit Tulum, enhancing its accessibility for international travelers.
