Paris’ second Couture Fashion Week in 2023 has come to an end. The metropolis was alive with the biggest fashion houses and creative designers’ captivating Haute Couture collections from July 3 to 6, 2023. Schiaparelli and Dior kicked off this season’s program on Monday with the presentation of their Fall/Winter 2024 collections, and there were undoubtedly more than a few stunning looks that we can expect to see on the red carpet in the near future.

The landscapes of artist Marta Roberti served as the backdrop on Monday for the most recent Dior couture collection by fashion designer Maria Grazia Chiuri, which was displayed in the lush settings of Paris’ Musee Rodin. The designs, which were influenced by feminism, power, and the divine, contrasted sharply with Roberti’s imaginative renderings of exotic birds and phantasmagorical forests. The Chiuri collection was a homage to timeless designs that drew strength from the past. The classical theme was established by a crepe cloak with long, draping arms, and the models’ gathered plaits served as a nod to bygone eras. While tunic forms and classical bands played up the nostalgic styles, all defined by loose proportions and modest charm, pearl or gold earrings offered a quiet refinement to the outfits.

Chanel’s collection was showcased on the Seine River’s cobblestone banks. The well-heeled glitterati of the fashion industry negotiated the rough terrain for an outdoor collection that honored the spirit of Paris while the Eiffel Tower could be seen in the distance. In a variety of floral and geometric themes, Chanel’s collection of tweeds, silk chiffons, organza, and inlaid lace was a monument to Virginie Viard’s vision of this opulent and feminine cosmos. The collection embraced a cozy simplicity despite the shine and glimmer of golden heels and buttons.

Elie Saab debuted his newest collection amid the imposing stone cloisters of the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, located next to the opulent Louvre. Saab’s autumn collection saw him recreate historical figures using a contemporary perspective while adhering to his beauty ethos. Fashion paid respect to the regal, cinematic inspirations with elaborate embellishments, exquisite textures, and glittering jewel tones of ruby, amethyst, and emerald. Through the use of sequined Tudor roses and blossoming branches that climbed the gowns, Saab brought the iconography of the Middle Ages to life while preserving the integrity of history. Dramatic velvet dentelle and crystallized crepe capes were piled over matched dresses, creating a sumptuous and enticing look.

From Schiaparelli and Christian Dior to Giambattista Valli and Fendi Couture, the land of Paris shone bright with wonderfully haute designs. Below are our favorites.
