If you were hoping for DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch, you’re probably out of luck. A new report from Famitsu details a conversation the outlet had with Nintendo’s Eiji Aonuma, the producer for Tears of the Kingdom. And it contains some likely not good news for those who want more of the game to sink their teeth into. Nintendo apparently has no plans for Tears of the Kingdom DLC.

Of course, this doesn’t mean Nintendo won’t ever release DLC for the game. Anything is possible. However, keep in mind that based on the interview with Famitsu, it’s probably not going to happen. And there’s a very reasonable explanation for why. Disappointing as it may be for some fans of the game.

Tears of the Kingdom DLC isn’t likely because there’s no more to create for its world

Tears of the Kingdom is a massive, massive game. And if you’re like some out there (myself included), you’ve barely scratched the surface. If you went for complete and total completion, you’re potentially looking at well over 200 hours of gameplay time. So, there’s a lot to do.

Naturally, people that spend that much time playing love the game enough that they no doubt want DLC so they can continue their adventures in that version of Hyrule. But Eiji Aonuma says Nintendo has no plans right now for more content. Because he feels that he’s done all he can to create fun in that world. In short, they’ve put everything they can think of into the base game.

Instead, it seems the team is looking ahead and pondering on what the next game will be. No details are offered up about what the next title in the series may be. And the next big mainline Zelda title is probably several years away. For now, fans will need to be satisfied with what’s currently available. And if you’ve already done everything there is to do, there’s always many other great games worth jumping into right now.
