Surprising no one, Taylor Swift is breaking records once again: AMC Theaters says the pop star’s upcoming Eras Tour concert documentary has smashed the theater chain’s record for single-day advance ticket sales.

In a statement, AMC said Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour raked in $26 million in revenue after tickets went on sale yesterday morning, Aug. 31. That far surpassed the chain’s previous record of $16.9 million set by Spider-Man: No Way Home. And, for what it’s worth, The Eras Tour doc managed to break the revenue record in under three hours.

The other good news for AMC: By all accounts, it’s ticket-selling capabilities appeared to hold up pretty well to the massive Swiftie demand, in stark contrast to a certain other ticket distribution platform. (Hype for the doc has already prompted one Hollywood flick, Exorcist: Believer, to push its release date to avoid a theatrical confrontation.)

The Eras Tour doc will currently only screen at AMC theaters, with a minimum of four showtimes per day scheduled on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, starting Oct. 13. AMC is now, of course, adding additional showtimes where necessary and available to meet the demand.

Swift announced The Eras Tour doc earlier this week, writing on social media: “The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon.”

Swift is technically only halfway through the Eras Tour, though it’s already being heralded as one of the biggest concert tours of all time (check out Rolling Stone’s list of the top 25 moments from the trek so far). The run is currently scheduled to continue in November with shows in South America, while Swift will spend most of 2024 playing Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and the U.K. She’ll then return to North America next fall for a final string of concerts.

Along with the continuation of the Eras Tour and the upcoming documentary, Swift is also gearing up for the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version), the latest offering in her re-recording project. Swift announced the release during her run of shows in Los Angeles, and it’s set to arrive Oct. 27, exactly nine years after the original album came out.
