Hold up, is that Tate McRae in a Zamboni? It sure is.

The pop star embraces her Canadian heritage (and her birthplace’s love for hockey) in her new video for the single “Greedy,” released Friday. McRae says the song is part of a “new chapter of my music.”

The Aerin Moreno-directed video opens with a clip of McRae driving around an ice rink on a Zamboni before the camera switches to capture the singer showing off her dance moves, choreographed by Sean Bankhead, from inside the arena’s changing room.

“I wrote ‘Greedy’ about having the confidence to know what you want,” McRae says in a press release. “I feel like this is the first time where people are seeing a feistier and more playful side of me. This song is so unexpected, and I cannot wait for everyone to hear it.”

McRae co-wrote and produced “Greedy” with Ryan Tedder, Amy Allen, and Jasper Harris. This is the first release since collaborating with Tiësto on “10:35” last November. She dropped her album I Used to Think I Could Fly last year.

Tedder, who co-wrote the song, spoke to Rolling Stone about how promoting songs on TikTok has negatively affected songwriters. In the case of “Greedy,” however, he commended McRae and her label, RCA, for how they handled the rollout since they had already started hashing out deals with Tedder and the other writers.

“Because of that, we were like ‘please go tease the shit out of this thing, Go nuts,” he said of the track that went viral before its release. “Whether the song is a hit or not, I couldn’t be happier with how she and the label handled it, and I think that’s a good representation of how it can work.”
