Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launched on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC earlier this year and now it looks like the game is coming to the PS4 and Xbox One. This was a highly anticipated game following the success of the first title, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. While Fallen Order was and is a great game, Survivor improves upon just about everything that made the first game good.
The downside is that EA never initially intended to bring this game to older consoles. But the publisher changed its mind after “community demand” for a last-gen version. “Thanks to the strength of this legendary franchise and community demand, our development team has committed to bringing this Jedi experience to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, ” EA CEO Andrew Wilson says. The announcement about the PS4 and Xbox One release was brought up during the company’s Q1 earnings call on August 2 (via The Verge).
The PS4 and Xbox One version of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has no release date
Knowing that the game is coming will be a welcomed revelation for those on Sony’s and Microsoft’s older consoles. Both Sony and Microsoft have sold through millions of units of the new hardware. But many still haven’t had the chance to upgrade. Whether that was due to stock issues since launch or just not being able to afford it yet.
For anyone that hasn’t upgraded, they’ll now have a chance to play the new game. However, there’s no release date set yet. Wilson didn’t mention when the game was coming. Just that it was coming. Which means it could still be a while before it arrives. Also worth considering is that by the time the game comes out for PS4 and Xbox One, a lot more people are likely to upgrade to the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.
That isn’t necessarily a bad thing though. Because the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S version will no doubt run with better performance and graphics. If you already have a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S and haven’t played the game yet, now is a good time. Sony is currently running a Summer Sale where you can grab the Deluxe Edition for $67.49 (normally $89.99). Which is $2.51 less than the standard edition that’s still at the full price of $69.99. It’s not on sale on Xbox, but you do save a bit if you have an EA Play membership.
