Star Wars: Outlaws, the first open-world Star Wars game, has been compared to Naughty Dog’s Uncharted since it was first announced – and the director couldn’t be more pleased.
Due for release on August 30, Star Wars: Outlaws is set between the events of Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi. Players will follow scoundrel and smuggler extraordinaire Kay Vess as she wheels and deals her way through the less-travelled outer rim, working with the galaxy’s most notorious crime families.
Star Wars: Outlaws was first announced last summer and will feature a wanted system, similar to the ones found in Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption. The game has also been heavily inspired by the practicalities of movie-making in the 1970s. However, fans have constantly compared Outlaws to Uncharted, an action-adventure game about globe-trotting treasure hunters.
Further confirmation that this could be the Star Wars Uncharted game I have been wanting for over a decade https://t.co/0D4tVUarZp

“It wasn’t necessarily our reference point,” creative director Julian Gerighty told VGC. “It’s such a wonderful game to be compared to, if you’re going to be compared to somebody, it might as well be the best in the industry,” he added. “Naughty Dog and what they do is absolutely brilliant. I’ll take it [but] it wasn’t the point of origin.”
“There are so many stories in Star Wars Outlaws that we’d like to tell and characters to come across,” he added. “The timeline is perfect, there’s a lot of potential there.”
Following a hands-on preview, NME wrote: “In capturing the scum and villainy of this richly-realised corner of a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars Outlaws sinks its claws in – and if developer Ubisoft can smooth out combat’s rougher edges, this could wind up being one of the best Star Wars games ever made.”
In other news, Elden Ring players are having trouble with the recently launched Shadow Of The Erdtree expansion.
