Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke reportedly sought help from a counselor prior to calling off their engagement and November wedding last month.
As one insider reveals why Carl, 38, ultimately decided he could not move forward with marrying Lindsay, 37, another shared details about Lindsay’s bachelorette trip to the Bahamas, which she moved forward with at the prompting of her friends and Summer House castmates.
“We insisted she not cancel her bachelorette and encouraged her to keep the trip,” one of the 14 friends who attended the trip told PEOPLE on September 25. “We wanted to uplift her, whisk her away and cheer her up.”
Among those who traveled to the SLS Baha Mar with Lindsay were Danielle Olivera, 34, Samantha Feher, 26, Gabby Prescod, 32, and season one castmate Jaclyn Shuman.
According to the report, the girl group arrived at the resort last Thursday for a weekend of activities, some of which were arranged by BachBoss, the concierge company of Ramona Singer‘s daughter, Avery Singer.
After checking into her two-bedroom suite, Lindsay and her friends hung out poolside in a private bungalow, where they enjoyed food and drinks, before heading to dinner at Cleo and later visiting the hotel casino.
Over the weekend, the festivities continued with a private outdoor yoga class on Saturday, champagne in a private cabana at Baha Mar’s Nexus Club, and a meal at Katsuya. Then, on Sunday, they ate at Fi’lia and prepared to head home.
Also during the trip, the ladies boarded an 82’ Acqua Alberti yacht with a jacuzzi and water toys, including two jet skis, and lunch from a private chef.
As Lindsay enjoyed her time away with her girlfriends, new details were shared regarding her split from Carl.
“They had actually seen a counselor. But Carl didn’t think it was a good way to start their forever together,” an insider told Us Weekly on September 25. “Carl had major fundamental issues before the wedding and wanted to take an honest look at them.”
According to the source, sobriety was a sticking point for Carl, who has been clean since January 2021.
“Sobriety was a big issue for him,” the insider stated. “Lindsay had become sober, but then incorporated drinking back into her lifestyle.”
As Summer House fans may recall, Lindsay stopped drinking in late 2021 but resumed last spring. And while Carl previously said he was “fully” supportive of Lindsay drinking, he seemed to ultimately have a change of heart.
“He was nervous about their future together without figuring things out,” the source shared. “Things were not resolved between Carl and Lindsay as the wedding was approaching.”
While Carl was labeled as “mean” for allegedly breaking up with Lindsay as cameras rolled for Summer House season eight, the insider went on to say that it was not his plan.
“His intention was not to break up with her, he only wanted to address their relationship and it went south. It wasn’t supposed to be a breakup, but it escalated,” they explained.
As for their recent contact with one another, the source said that although they “haven’t spoken” directly, they have “communicated via text through friends” as “things had to be dealt with around the wedding fallout.”
Summer House season eight is expected to premiere on Bravo sometime later this year or early next year.
