Paradox Interactive has confirmed the Early Access launch date for life simulator game Life By You.

The Sims rival was officially unveiled last year, with development headed up by former Sims studio head Rod Humble. Paradox were aiming for a summer 2023 release but delayed the early access launch to March 2024 to ensure the game is a “more well-rounded experience”.

Earlier this year, it was delayed once again. “The three-month extension will enable the development team to refine the visuals for its human characters and further improve gameplay,” said the studio.

However, yesterday (April 30) Paradox confirmed Life By You would definitely be releasing in Early Access on June 4. Humble has described Life By You as “the biggest life-sim ever made,” while yesterday’s announcement said that the game is “designed as a modern-day fantasy where players can be whomever they wish, in a world of their own making.”

“Be in total control of the humans that you create, the towns that you build, the stories that you tell. And oh yes – mods,” read the Steam listing. “As an Early Access game, we look forward to working directly with you, our players, to determine the ideas and content that will drive the priorities in our game development and bring Life By You to full-launch. We know life is always better with a heavy sprinkle of your imagination, so we’re empowering you with a wide variety of Creator Tools so you can design your lives the way you see fit – or break the rules of life itself.”

“Designed to be one of the most open world and moddable life-simulation games, we look forward to the humans, stories, and creations that you’ll make with Life By You,” the description added.

A recent Q+A with developers revealed Life By You will launch in Early Access with the ability to skip time as well as speed it up, while characters can also die from old age. “Naturally, we will have a lot more deaths planned over the course of Early Access,” developers added.

Earlier this month, Paradox confirmed modders and consent creators can monetise all they want from Life By You. “You don’t owe us a dime – go for it,” encouraged Humble.

In other news, a Game of Thrones massively multiplayer online (MMO) game is reportedly in development.
