Shaun Of The Dead is receiving a cinematic re-release to mark its 20th anniversary, but which songs feature in the cult zombie comedy?

Edgar Wright’s 2004 film has become a beloved classic of modern British cinema, and stars Simon Pegg as the titular Shaun, a directionless London salesman who finds himself and his friends – Nick Frost’s Ed, Kate Ashfield’s Liz, Dylan Moran’s David and Lucy Davis’ Dianne – caught in the midst of a zombie apocalypse.

Shaun Of The Dead is the first in the so-called Cornetto trilogy, which was later completed by 2007’s Hot Fuzz and 2013’s The World’s End. It made a total of nearly £30million at the box office and was nominated for two BAFTA Awards.

Wright announced details of the re-release in July, stating the film had been remastered with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. It already returned to US cinemas in late August and arrives back in UK and Ireland cinemas on September 27.

“Twenty years ago, the worldwide release of Shaun of the Dead changed my life forever,” Wright wrote. “Its reception since then has continued to be incredible, largely due to the passionate fans who have championed it with cricket bats aloft.

“Now, as we celebrate its bloody 20th anniversary with a brand-new Dolby Atmos and Vision remastered version, I’m beyond excited for everyone to experience it once again on the big screen—the way it was always meant to be seen: large, loud, and with quite a lot of red on it.”

In a recent interview with NME at Glastonbury Festival, Wright and Pegg spoke about the renewed interest in Shaun of the Dead ahead of the film’s 20th anniversary.

“It’s kind of never really gone away since we made it,” said Pegg. “Whenever there was some crisis, that meme of me with the beer popped up. But it’s nice to get to 20 years and realise that people are still talking about it.”

Wright added: “Also, I think the main subject of conversation is people saying: ‘Oh, fuck! That was 20 years ago! Oh my God – I’m old! What have I done with my life?”
