The singer highlights queer love within the video for his new tune.
Valentine’s Day is a day away, and Serpentwithfeet is selecting to “go the place the love is.” On Monday, the musician launched his reflective, tender R&B single “Gonna Go,” which follows the singer telling the story of a no-labels, queer love as he decides whether or not to remain in a relationship with no title.
“I received slippers at his home/However we ain’t received no label,” he sings to open the tune. “We make good love on his sofa/However he’s nonetheless not ready/To say what he needs from me.”
The Jonathan Aubrie Lewis-directed video exhibits the sweeter aspect of the connection, capturing the singer and the love curiosity holding arms, having a romantic dinner at a park, and caressing one another, whereas he sings his doubts about whether or not to stay round.
“I’m gonna go the place the love is,” he sings within the refrain, earlier than including within the second verse: “I’m positive that fairly quickly I’ll begin lacking your snort/Or the way in which you gently sigh after I’m grabbing your ass/However I’ve been crunching numbers and it says you’re not the one.”
“Gonna Go” marks Serpentwithfeet’s first single of the 12 months, and follows the discharge of “The Fingers” from movie The Inspection, and a number of other one-off singles, together with “I’m Pressed,” “Sailors’ Superstition,” and “Bless the Phone.”
