I

t’s no serendipity that we have to witness a week-to-week display of ostentatious assemblages on our screens and red carpets. It almost seems like if there are no event lineups, the universe subtly presents one to soothe our curious eyes. Last week, fashion stars and influencers took to the carpets in peacocky servings, some lined with understated poise, and others heavy on loud accessorizing. But all in all, these looks stayed true to course and personality.

For instance, the Schiaparelli x Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills launch was a good reason for these stars to sway and slay outside. The avant-garde brand is notorious for its intricately designed pieces, and this star-studded event was another opportunity to showcase these creations on both celebrities and their muses.

The Looks

Actress Regina King gave a hint on the best way to rock red this season at the Schiaparelli x Neiman Marcus opening in LA. She wore a suede peplum top and black wide-leg pants from the brand, accessorized to perfection with a custom necklace, statement cuff, and ring. The carpet exuded black excellence as Ms. King was spotted with other Black queens like Angela Bassett and Taraji P. Henson. When Queens Link Up should have been the theme of this event.

The Culture Con was a refreshing breath of fresh air for New York City, and another space for Black creatives to express themselves through fashion. The street-style renderings, beauty trends, and exhibitions were a 360 experience. Teyana Taylor received a Legacy award and per usual, brought her distinct style game and deeply creative mind to the stage. The star made a case for leather and jewelry overload. She wore a high-slit, deep-V black dress with an oversized coat that reiterated her famed edgy, sexy aesthetic. She complemented the outfit with stacked Dylanlex jewelry, thigh-high platform boots, and the right attitude.

With Cardi B, every day is a show, and the world is her runway. For her 31st birthday, the rapper matched her party decor but still managed to stand out. She rocked a sultry red sheer dress with a lengthy train that emphasized her curves. With her hairdo evoking an old Hollywood dream and her nails determined to stay in the conversation, the resulting look was impressive.
