Ryan Reynolds has unveiled a special edition popcorn bucket for Deadpool & Wolverine, playfully mocking Dune: Part Two‘s viral sandworm receptacle.

The producer-star of the upcoming movie – which will be Deadpool’s Marvel Cinematic Universe debut – teased the new product with a humorous video on his social media and YouTube accounts.

The video, set to Richard Strauss’ ‘Also sprach Zarathustra’, features a bucket made to resemble the helmeted head of Hugh Jackman‘s X-Men character Wolverine, with his mouth suggestively agape. Deadpool himself is then seen pouring and stuffing popcorn into the product, before drizzling melted butter over his frenemy’s face.

“Years from now they will look back at 2024 as the year the War of the Popcorn Buckets began. #history #DeadpoolAndWolverine ❤️💛,” Reynolds captioned the post.

Earlier this year, AMC Theatres released a limited-edition Dune: Part Two popcorn bucket which resembled the giant, toothy mouth of the film’s iconic sandworms. The somewhat suggestive design of the product saw it become a social media sensation, and even prompted cast members Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh and Austin Butler to address it on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in February.

The Deadpool & Wolverine team teased their plan to release their own special popcorn bucket while at CinemaCon 2024 in April.

“We’ve asked Deadpool to design [the bucket],” Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told the crowd in Las Vegas. Cheekily referring to the Dune bucket, he added: “There are some movies that inadvertently make crude and rude popcorn buckets, and then there are popcorn buckets designed by Deadpool.”

The first full trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine was released in April, teasing a multi-verse traversing adventure as the pair are seen jumping through a portal commonly used by Doctor Strange and his fellow sorcerers.

Elsewhere, Josh Brolin, who starred in Deadpool 2, recently admitted he was disappointed not be involved in the upcoming third film.

Deadpool & Wolverine will be released in cinemas on July 26.
