UPDATE: Mia is now confirming her split from Gordon in a statement.

“Like all marriages, ours has had its ups and downs,” stated Mia to PEOPLE.  “At this time, Gordon and I are separated, but my family is my number one priority, and I am committed to doing whatever it takes to make sure we are okay. We ask that you respect our privacy and give us the time and space to figure things out.”

The original story is below.

Mia Thornton has reportedly been separated from her husband, Gordon Thornton, for months.

Following the release of the season eight trailer for The Real Housewives of Potomac, which saw the couple in counseling, where Mia, 38, admitted to meeting with a divorce attorney, a new report has shared confirmation of her split from Gordon, 71.

“Mia Thornton and her husband Gordon have been separated for months,” Brett Staffen revealed on the September 29 episode of TV Deets‘ podcast. “This is not a new separation, they have been separated for months and are, in essence, living separate lives.”

“I’m told their separation is amicable,” he continued. “Gordon doesn’t necessarily want his marriage to end… I don’t know if Gordon is going to be able to prevent that from happening but it is amicable in the sense that Gordon wants to make it work and Gordon wants to get along with Mia.”

According to the podcast host, Gordon has met with the husbands of RHOP and discussed their status with them, and the ladies of the show are in the know as well.

Mia and Gordon have been married for nearly 11 years and share two children: son Jeremiah and daughter Juliana.

Just days before their separation was announced, Mia honored her reportedly estranged husband with a birthday tribute on her Instagram page.

“Cheers to 71 years around the Sun … Happy Birthday, My G!” she declared, along with a photo of the two of them together.

Also in the RHOP trailer, Mia was seen sitting down with castmate Ashley Darby, 35, who she suggested married her own former partner, Michael Darby, for money.

“I most definitely think that you married Michael for his money,” Mia told her co-star.

“Did you marry Gordon for his money?” Ashley fired back.

“I might have,” Mia admitted.

As RHOP fans may recall, Mia and Gordon moved out of their mansion and into a penthouse apartment earlier this year following a financial setback.

The Real Housewives of Potomac season eight premieres on Sunday, November 5, at 8/7c on Bravo.
