Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann appear to have had a change of heart about their plans for divorce.
After separating at the end of April and filing dueling divorce documents the following month, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star, 44, and her NFL player spouse, 37, who were spotted with their kids at church over the weekend, have called off their split.
On July 7, Us Weekly obtained court documents filed by Kim, who asked for her divorce request to be dismissed.
As fans of Kim and Kroy well know, the couple shares four children, including Kroy “KJ” Jr., 12, and Kash, 11, and twins Kaia and Kane, 9, and, after filing for divorce, they embarked on what appeared to be the making of a terribly messy custody battle, plagued with requests for an investigation into Kim’s parenting and claims of Kroy using drugs.
In fact, Kroy requested “the temporary and permanent sole legal and sole physical custody” of their kids and asked the court to boot Kim from their Alpharetta, Georgia, mansion, which went into temporary foreclosure earlier this year.
The couple, who wed in November 2011, also spewed allegations of abuse against one another as they were reportedly faced with several financial challenges, including lawsuits and over $1 million in back taxes. There was even an accusation regarding a supposed kidnapping plot.
“The financial burdens have been a strain on their relationship,” an insider previously told Us Weekly. “Between the tax debt and other financial stresses, it’s been difficult. The tax debt was the straw that broke the camel’s back in their marriage.”
That said, despite the messy split, Kim and Kroy, who adopted Brielle Biermann, 26, and Ariana Biermann, 21, in 2013, continued living with one another after parting ways.
Following the news of their split, friends of Kim and Kroy, who appeared together on Don’t Be Tardy for eight seasons, were said to be in shock.
“Kim’s friends were shocked to find out that she and Kroy had marital issues and were getting a divorce,” another source told Us Weekly. “It was something she really kept hidden, even from her inner circle of friends.”
