Razer today has announced a new 2023 Edition of the Blackshark V2 Pro gaming headset. A longstanding popular entry into its wide collection of offerings for gaming audio. It’s highly regarded as one of Razer’s best headset for clear, high-quality voice chat. And that hasn’t changed. In fact it seems to have gotten better. The new 2023 Edition Blackshark V2 Pro features a new Razer HyperClear Super Wideband mic.
Which Razer says covers a wider frequency range of sound to transmit more detail in your voice. The mic is still detachable as well so you can take it off when you’re done using it. Design-wise, nearly nothing has changed short of slightly narrower and long connecting piece for the detachable mic. There is a big difference in price though. The last version of the Blackshark V2 Pro goes for $124.99 now (normally $179.99). Whereas the 2023 model goes for $199.99.
The Razer Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 Edition will last for up to 70 hours
One of the other big upgrades for this headset is the battery life. Razer says it lasts for up to 70 hours this time around if you’re using the low-latency wireless dongle. And that jumps up to 90 hours if you’re connecting the headset through Bluetooth.
This a pretty huge improvement over the older model’s listed 24 hours. An increase in battery life is always nice to see. Since wireless headsets are meant to be wireless, you definitely want them to last as long as possible before needing to recharge. The increase in battery life to this headset though is also likely in part to compensate for the lack of wired connection support. Whereas the old 2020 model of the Blackshark V2 Pro had a 3.5mm audio port, this new model does not.
Your options are to connect it through the low-latency dongle or through Bluetooth. So it is in fact completely wireless. And longer battery life should help here. That being said, Razer also claims the headset can give you 6 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes. So should it die on you mid-session, you can take a quick break and get back to it.
