Sure, the act of moving isn’t all that fun, but it’s different if you’re doing so on the small screen. The popular decoration game Unpacking is now “moving” over to mobile devices, according to Engadget. It’s going to hit the Google Play Store and the iOS App Store later this month.

Unpacking is coming to mobile devices later this month

Packing boxes, loading them, along with furniture, onto the moving truck, and unpacking everything in the new house is a struggle. Well, in Unpacking, it’s a lot less tiring and a lot more fun. The game was developed by Witch Beam and released to consoles and PC back in 2021. The game garnered a ton of notoriety for its having won a whopping 24 gaming awards.

The gameplay is deceptively simple. Basically, you’re unpacking boxes… and that’s it. However, it’s a bit deeper than that. On each level, you’ll be unpacking boxes and placing the items in the room. That sounds easy, but you’ll need to find space for everything. Nothing can sit on top of other items or otherwise clash with other items.

Items can go on the ground, on top of tables, inside of drawers/shelves, and on the wall. Most items can go pretty much anywhere, so there’s no limit to where you can place items. You’ll just need to make sure that there’s enough room.

While the gameplay is so simple, there’s actually a story behind it. The person unpacking their stuff is a woman. The items that you place and the places she moves to tell a story about her. You’ll be able to find out about this story by playing through the game.

Unpacking will land on mobile devices on August 24th. That’s a couple of weeks from now, so there’s still a bit to wait. When it launches, it will cost $9.99. That’s not a bad price because you’re getting the full game.
