The hotels in Playa del Carmen are almost fully booked for the winter season, with occupancy rates of up to 95%. Small hotels have already increased their figures to 70%, whereas in previous months they had only reached 50%.

“The trend is upward, and we hope that the small hotels on Fifth Avenue and 10th Street can also reach 90%,” said Carlos Jiménez, Director of Tourism Promotion of the Municipality, according to Noticaribe.

He pointed out that American travelers take first place in bookings. However, the number of domestic tourists from Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo has been increasing recently.

As REPORTUR.mx reports, the hotel association of Cancún, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres estimates that hotels will be almost fully booked by January. Therefore, they have just held their monthly job fair to hire 500 employees to fill their vacancies.
