When the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake (titled Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater) was officially confirmed last week during the PlayStation Showcase, one of the statements Konami made was that the remake would “star the original voice cast.” What the publisher didn’t say was that the voice cast would be returning to re-do new recordings for the lines. It also didn’t say that wouldn’t happen. That is, until recently.

A new report from The Verge notes that Head of Communications at Konami for the Americas Tommy Williams confirms the voice cast is not returning to do new lines. Instead, the remake will be using the original voice lines from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

What’s more is that there will be no changes to the lines. So players will get the exact same experience with the voice acting. While that will be welcomed by some, it’s unfortunate the cast won’t be coming back to re-do any of the audio. With remakes, newly recorded lines can add layers of character and nuance. It also means more work for the voice actors should they reprise their roles.

Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is officially pronounced Metal Gear Delta: Snake Eater

This isn’t exactly new information as Konami confirmed it not long after the announcement. But in case you missed it, Konami has confirmed how you officially pronounce the game’s name. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.

The confusion comes from the way the name is displayed. As Konami uses the Delta symbol (a triangle), instead of writing out the word. Which led some people to think, perhaps in jest, that it was called Metal Gear Solid Triangle: Snake Eater.

Aside from the name, there’s little official details about the release. Though Konami has said that its plans for the remake are to remain as faithful as possible to the original. And given the original voice lines will be used, it’s likely that none of the story is changing in any way.

Players should however expect new mechanics and additional changes that add to the game. When it launches the game will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
