“What an honor!!!!” wrote Rodrigo alongside a video of the duo singing Crow’s 1996 hit

Magic happens when the old and new generations of songwriters come together.

On Friday, Olivia Rodrigo shared a video of herself singing along to Sheryl Crow‘s 1996 hit “If It Makes You Happy” alongside the multi-Grammy award-winning artist herself during an event at Nashville’s Bluebird Café.

“Pinch me! sang one of my favorite songs of all time with the greatest of all time @sherylcrow !!!!” Rodrigo wrote on Instagram, captioning a photo of themselves reading Vogue at a salon. “What an honor!!!! ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹”

The duet comes about a year after Crow presented Rodrigo with the Billboard Women in Music award. “Sheryl, I’m such a massive fan of you and your songwriting and I’m so grateful that you’re here. It really means the world,” Rodrigo said at the time.

Crow, for her part, used her introductory speech to praise Rodrigo for songwriting and success at a young age. “Her songs have a visceral power to them that touches your core. I say to you, Olivia: ‘You’re going to be around for a very long time,’” Crow added.

Rodrigo also posed with Crow, Dolly Parton, Pink, and Brandi Carlile during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony last year.

The performance with Crow comes just weeks after Rodrigo released Guts, her sophomore album. She also recently announced that she’ll be heading on her Guts world tour, and is headlining this year’s iHeartRadio Jingle Ball. She also recently graced the cover of Rolling Stone.

“The last album was definitely a breakup record, much to my chagrin,” she told Rolling Stone. “I was really trying to make it not that, but that’s what it was. I’m feeling a lot happier these days. Everything’s pretty good. So I wasn’t going to make something super devastating, a record of ballads.”
