When it comes to storage on the Xbox Series X|S, just like with the PS5 storage space is absolute garbage and expansion is more or less required. That is unless you want to go through the endless and mundane existence of constantly deleting and installing games to make room. Then deleting those games to re-install games you deleted. And the cycle repeats itself. Luckily, you don’t have to put yourself through that. There is a better way.
It just so happens to be that storage expansion we mentioned earlier. The main issue with storage expansion on the Xbox Series X|S is that the cards are expensive. Or at least they were. Don’t get us wrong, they’re still not cheap by ant means. But as of today (or perhaps sometime earlier this week), the prices on those cards has dropped. Not just by $10 either. By a significant amount. Enough to make them worth considering again if you don’t already have one.

You know how much it used to be to get a 2TB card for the Xbox Series X|S? $399. Nearly as much as the console itself just to pull your storage capabilities out of the peasant levels Microsoft saw fit to set you up with.
Now, though, storage cards are dropping in price by up to $120. That 2TB expansion card is down from $399 to $279.99. Yes, it’s still a lot, especially compared to the options PS5 users have with standard M.2 NVMe SSDs. But this is a significant price drop and if you can afford it, it’s the best option. It’ll take much, much longer for you to run out of space unless you immediately start installing every game under the sun that you’ve acquired since the console came out.
If you don’t need 2TB of space, the 1TB card is on sale as well. It normally retails for $219.99, but it’s down to $149.99. A much more manageable price if you can get by with the additional 1TB.
