Nintendo’s Everybody 1-2 Switch is due out in just 10 days and this afternoon Nintendo dropped a surprise first-look trailer, showcasing some of the mini games and the title’s support for up to 100 players.
Imagine, if you will, the chaos-filled fun of a party game that has 100 players all engaged at the same time. That’s what Everybody 1-2 Switch aims to be. Though you might struggle to find 99 other individuals interested in playing let alone convincing that many people to gather in a room for such festivities.
Still, just the fact that it’s possible to play a Nintendo party game with up to 100 people is an exciting prospect. But it’s not the only thing Nintendo revealed in the trailer.
Everybody 1-2 Switch first-look trailer shows off smartphone controller
You might wonder to yourself how you would even play a party game with up to 100 people. There’s no way to connect up to 100 Joy-Con controllers to the Switch after all. And even if there was, you’d have to acquire all of them.
Nintendo has devised a simple solution. You can use your smartphone as a Switch controller for this game. In the Everybody 1-2 Switch first-look, this is demonstrated as the 16 initial players are surprised by a larger group that has come to participate.
The process is pretty simple and makes use of a QR code that links your phone to the console. This the same method Nintendo uses to send screenshots and video clips to your phone. It’s an ingenious solution really. As it alleviates any hassle of needing to buy more controllers. Let alone find a place to store them all.
Everybody 1-2 Switch releases for the Nintendo Switch on June 30. So it’s just around the corner for those looking to pick it up. You can also pre-order it now on the Nintendo eshop and retailers like Best Buy.
