A trio of modders are working on bringing the world of Baldur’s Gate 3 to Stardew Valley.

Announcing the Baldur’s Village project on social media, X user XunHe1145 explained that their goal was for “Baldur’s Gate characters [to] settle in Stardew Valley!”

“Hi, let me introduce to you our new crazy project,” they continued. “We are making a Stardew Valley mod that will include a new map and residents from Baldur’s Gate 3. The characters we are currently working on include Astarion, Shadowheart, Gale and Halsin.

The modder went on to explain that currently Astarion is the only character that is datable and will have a “unique romance plot”, however the team will try and make more dateable characters. “We are just a small team of amateurs, so speed is limited”.

As it stands, the team has created an independent map of Baldur’s Village in Stardew Valley featuring four different building styles. They have also created artwork for Astarion, Shadowheart, and Gale. “To answer all the questions about the main characters: they’ll all be there, but my Apple Pencil needs more time,” wrote XunHe1145.

The team is hoping to release the first Baldur’s Village mod via Nexus Mods in time for the first anniversary of Baldur’s Gate 3, which is August 3, 2024, and is set to keep sharing updates via social media.

The reaction from fans seems extremely positive as well. “I will never be free from the hold Baldur’s Gate 3 has on me,” wrote one user, with another adding: “This is extremely cool”.

Responding to criticism about which Baldur’s Gate 3 characters were being created first, modder XunHe1145 wrote: “Production sequence of the characters entirely depends on personal preference, which is why Astarion is the first. If it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t have this project.”

“This is a totally free mod, we are not anyone’s employees and we only work for our passion, so we will not respond to any complaints about the sequence, thank you,” they added.

Earlier this month, Larian Studios confirmed it has started work on two new projects based on original IPs following their decision to step away from the Baldur’s Gate franchise.

However, Hasbro and Wizards Of The Coast have also confirmed that the Baldur’s Gate IP was back under their control, with the studios already looking at the next instalment.

Stardew Valley has also received another new update that introduces a number of new mines and the fishing frenzy mechanic to the game, following the massive 1.6 update.
