Mexico has become an outstanding destination with an unprecedented increase in arrivals.

The remarkable increase in tourist flows in 2023 represents an important milestone in the recovery of the sector, ensuring a growth of 6.2% compared to the same period in 2022 when 16.3 million tourists arrived in the country.

This growth surpassed pre-pandemic figures, registering a 13.8% evolution compared to the figures for the same period in 2019 when Mexico received around 15.52 million international tourists.

The primacy of the United States, Canada and Colombia as the main contributors to this boom is undeniable. These countries account for 76.2% of all visitors to Mexico, which corresponds to 13.4 million people.

Visitors from the United States account for more than 63.5% of all tourists coming to the country. This phenomenon represents a significant change in the demographics of visitors and consolidates the United States as the main contributor to Mexico’s vibrant tourism scene, with more than 6 out of 10 tourists coming from that nation.

According to the Secretary of Tourism Miguel Torruco, 11,021,000 American tourists arrived by air in the first 10 months of the year, 3.4% more than in January-October 2022.

Torruco also explained that in addition to people from the United States, Canada and Colombia, other nationalities are also actively participating in the tourism boom.
