Melissa McCarthy has responded to Barbra Streisand’s recent viral comment on her Instagram.

On Monday (April 29) the actor shared a since deleted photo of herself and director Adam Shankman, with the caption: “Pastels only to honour the incredible @matthewbourne13 at the @ctgla gala last night with this fella @adamshankman!! Thiiiiis much closer to my dream of dancing on stage.”

Streisand commented on the post: “Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?” referring to the Type 2 diabetes drug treatment, which has been reportedly taken by some celebrities, including Sharon Osbourne, to aid weight loss.

Streisand received criticism from Instagram users, with some interpreting her comment as a slight at McCarthy. One user wrote: “Who cares how someone loses?? As long as they get healthier. Everyone tearing her down really needs to get some therapy.”

Now, McCarthy has responded to the comment with another Instagram post. The Bridesmaids star uploaded a video featuring her reading an old magazine with a young Streisand on the cover, accompanied by the caption: “@barbrastreisand fan club members only!!!”

In the video, she confirmed her thoughts about the viral comment, saying: “The takeaway — Barbra Streisand knows I exist? She reached out to me. And she thought I looked good. I win the day.”

Streisand then also addressed the situation on her Instagram story this week as she wrote: “OMG – I went on Instagram to see the photos we’d posted of the beautiful flowers I’d received for my birthday!”

She continued: “Below them was a photo of my friend Melissa McCarthy who I sang with on my Encore album. She looked fantastic! I just wanted to pay her a compliment.”
