The Barbie movie is set to take over every single aspect of commerce and culture for the next month. Now, you can brush your teeth with a Barbie toothbrush before painting your nails with Barbie nail polish and doing your hair with a Barbie flatiron, all to get ready for your stay at the Barbie Airbnb. The film’s biggest promotional tool, however, is without a doubt Margot Robbie, star and producer of Barbie, who has embraced the doll’s bright style for the press tour with the help of her stylist, Andrew Mukamal. So far, she hasn’t had a miss yet, pulling inspiration from Barbies of yore and old Chanel runway looks. Plus, we still have premieres to look forward to, but until then, we’ve rounded up all of Robbie’s Barbie-approved press looks and where you can get them for yourselves.
Robbie has been pulling out some pretty stellar archival looks during the Barbie press tour thus far. Her ensemble for an event Friday was no different. The actress wore a sparkling Versace couture mini dress from the Italian brand’s fall/winter 1994 collection. It featured a corset-style bodice that fell into a short, flared skirt. She rounded out the look with a pair of clear heels and chrome nails.
For an event earlier in the day on Friday, Robbie again opted for a look from the Versace archives. This time, she chose a pink skirt and cropped sweater from their fall/winter 1994 campaign. Down to the bubblegum pink socks, the entire look was the same one that supermodel Christy Turlington wore in the iconic ‘90s advertisement. Robbie, though, did add a pair of white sunglasses.
Robbie already embodied the original 1959 Barbie in the first trailer for Barbie, but now she’s bringing the look to the film’s press tour with the help of Herve Leger. The brand created a custom black and white striped body-con dress for the actress, which she wore with black peep toe Manolo Blahnik heels and a pair of white Jacques Marie Mage sunglasses while promoting the film in Sydney.
The Australian portion of the press tour has officially commenced, and Robbie is not disappointing. The actress headed over to Bondi Beach wearing a ‘50s style, strawberry-covered dress from Moschino spring/summer 2019 by Jeremy Scott, which she paired with a white leather shoulder bag, white peep-toe Louboutins, and white sunglasses. Considering the designer had a whole collection inspired by the doll, many are hoping this isn’t the last we see of Robbie in the Moschino.
Robbie mixed things up a bit, ditching pink for a canary yellow Chanel suit, which she wore with a white, fur-covered bag and her favorite white Louboutins.
Now normally, airport arrivals aren’t really considered press stops, but Robbie turned her touch down into Sydney into a moment when she arrived to the airport wearing this. The Chanel look was completely inspired by one worn on the runway by Claudia Schiffer at the brand’s spring 1996 show, and even featured pink luggage from Streamline to match.
Valentino created a custom pink and white polka dot dress for Robbie to wear to a photocall in LA. The look is inspired by a 2015 version of Barbie and Robbie completed the ensemble with a bright yellow Valentino rockstud bag and white Manolo Blahnik pumps.
A quick cruise in her Barbie dream car called for a custom Bottega Veneta set featuring a pleated mini skirt, bustier crop top, and woven top handle bag. She finished off the look with custom Manolo Blahnik Jada heels.
Versace’s fall/winter 2023 collection was filled with pink moments just waiting to get pulled for the Barbie press tour, so it’s no surprise Robbie wore a skirt from the collection for some Instagram promo. She paired the mini with a lighter pink corset from the brand and pink peep-toe pumps.
Valentino made Barbiecore the trend of last summer with their PP collection, so it makes sense Robbie would look to the brand and wear a logo-covered pink mini dress for her appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Robbie got a head start promoting the film in April at CinemaCon, showing up in a pink and white gingham Prada set featuring a cropped bustier top with black scalloped detailing and a matching wrap miniskirt. The look seems to be inspired by one worn by her character in the film, and Robbie completed the ensemble with the Me Dolly Louboutins in pink, some subtle Jessica McCormack jewelry, and a Chanel anklet.
