Traffic accidents in the municipality of Los Cabos are a constant concern for the population and the municipal authorities. The Public Safety and Preventive Police Directorate and the Municipal Traffic Department will increase operations on December 24, 25, 31 and January 1 to reduce the number of traffic accidents.
“We are continuing breath alcohol checks, monitoring motorcycles without license plates and motorcyclists without helmets, as well as checking on vehicles without license plates at the different points of the busiest delegations of Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo,” said Captain Jesús Antonio Gómez Rodríguez, Director of Public Safety of the Preventive Police and Municipal Traffic.

Los Cabos Traffic and Road Administration reported that from January to November of this year, 15 breath alcohol checks were conducted, resulting in 162 arrests and 128 misdemeanors. This data reflects the effectiveness of these measures in preventing adverse events. Given the start of the “Guadalupe – Reyes” season, the possibility of extending and reinforcing these actions is being considered as the volume of vehicles increases to help reduce traffic accidents.
In addition to carrying out alcohol checks at strategic times and places, the proper use of seat belts will also be monitored. Collaboration with the National Guard will make it possible to carry out various actions, including the “carousel operation,” according to Captain Gómez Rodríguez.
