Whether to choose drama or subtility depends more on personality and occasion. The past week was a blend of both worlds. Even with fewer high-profile gatherings, fashion somehow found a way to decorate the week with ready celebrities doing its bidding. Far from a sartorial quandary were stars precise with details, sizzling in offerings that emphasized their individual tastes. At events such as the 32nd annual ESPY Awards, the ensembles were as glamorous as they were put together, showcasing the many-sided flexibility of fashion.

One of the unforgettable highlights of the 2024 ESPY Awards was the Williams sisters towering over Quinta Brunson on stage, yet of little significance as all three ladies have a record for standing tall on business and shattering glass ceilings. The star girls were at the ESPY Awards deeply moisturized and gorgeously clad in befitting garments with melanin fiercely popping on purpose, a hallmark of 2024.

The Looks

Still at the 2024 ESPY Awards, Halle Bailey shone in a black spaghetti-strap Raisa Vanessa mini dress with gold floral details on the bust. We’ve come to expect that Ms. Bailey will always exude soft feminine energy, thus everything she wears surrenders to this girly vibe. She completed the look with statement earrings, black strappy sandals, and her voluminous mane held in an updo.

Black and gold seemed to be a thing with Serena Williams boldly catching up to the combo for hosting duties at the ESPYS. She donned a black, sleeveless Armani Privé number with gold details on the strap and exaggerated train. The athlete punched up the look with a curly blonde side-part hairstyle. Indeed, it was a night for black and gold, and each muse saw to it that the merger was a sight for sore eyes.

Meanwhile, model Madisin Rian wore a futuristic Do Long garb that made little attempt to be quiet. The top’s exaggerated shoulders with sheer details and silver adornments married seamlessly with the embellished high-waisted pants. Last week, alongside gold, was its distant cousin silver both making their rounds with black and doing a great job.

Florals are an all-season favorite. Even more so, summer and its ebullient personality. Quinta Brunson looked divine in a blue floral Silvia Tcherassi number with a high neckline elevated with sheer assertiveness. In other words, the sheer floral dress did justice to her frame. Elsewhere, Moses Ingram opted for a floral print Carolina Herrera A-line dress with a curved neckline that emphasized her feminine charm at the screening of her show, “Lady in the Lake.” At this point, you should believe that flowers are indeed a girl’s best friend.
