Their set was full of a confidence that showed how they earned that headline spot, with poppy melodies shining through fantastically moody noise, and a locked-in trio energy that never failed. Most of the songs came from their 2022 debut, Versions of Modern Performance, with a couple of exceptions. “We’re playing two new songs,” says Lowenstein (pictured here). “We’ve been writing for the last two weeks in Chicago, so we’re trying stuff out on this tour that we wrote last week.”

“It’s nerve-wracking for this to be our first show of tour, a little bit,” Reece adds with a laugh. “We want to try out all these songs we’ve never played live before, but on this huge stage, we’re like, ‘Uh, maybe we should stick with the classics.’”
