Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis have revealed the title of the long-awaited sequel to Freaky Friday.

Curtis and Lohan both starred in the 2003 Disney remake of Jodie Foster’s 1976 film by the same name, and took to the stage at Disney’s D23 fan event in Anaheim on Friday (August 9), to tease details of the follow-up film.

“We have a new title, I don’t know if we should share it here,” Curtis said to co-star Lohan, who replied: “These are the best fans in the world,” before the pair announced in unison the new title is Freakier Friday.

They also shared first-look photos of their characters, including images of Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) driving in a convertible, and the mother-daughter pair screaming at the camera with their hands on their faces.

Disney Studios echoed the announcment on X/Twitter, writing: “Things just got freakier. #FreakierFriday, starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, is coming to theaters in 2025.”

At the event, Curtis commented: “For me it feels like no time has passed. We both get to play moms.” Irish Wish star Lohan agreed, saying “It doesn’t even feel like work,” while adding it was “more fun, [because] it’s more emotional.”

She also told Curtis: “Seriously the only reason we are back here doing this is because of you.”

Back in March, Lohan confirmed that a follow-up film was finally in the works. Speaking to SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live on March 4, she was asked about rumours of a sequel, to which she confirmed: “It’s happening.”

While Lohan was unable to share more details at the time, she shared that she’s confident that the sequel will happen, and that both Curtis and herself were “excited” about the project.

Elsewhere, Curtis recently revealed that she asks for crew members to wear name tags on set, explaining: “You guys know our names, we don’t know yours. There’s something inequitable to me about that.”
