Deck Nine has confirmed a new entry in the Life Is Strange series, with Double Exposure due for release later this year.

Described as an “all-new murder mystery” Life Is Strange: Double Exposure will see players reunited with Max Caulfield, the protagonist of the very first Life Is Strange game.

In a reveal trailer, we see Max all grown-up and experiencing different powers this time around. Instead of being able to rewind time, she’s now able to experience two almost-identical parallel timelines.

“When Max Caulfield finds her friend Safi dead in the snow, she tears open the way to a parallel timeline. Here, Safi is still alive – and still in danger! With her new power to Shift between two timelines – can Max solve and prevent the same murder,” reads the Steam listing.

Max featured in the original Life Is Strange and prequel Before The Storm, but has only been mentioned in passing in recent Life Is Strange titles.

Life Is Strange: Double Exposure is due for release October 29 for PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X/S, with a Nintendo Switch version also confirmed.

Life Is Strange: Double Exposure was announced during the Xbox Games Showcase yesterday (June 9). The showcase also confirmed new Doom game The Dark Ages and a prequel Gears Of Wars title E-Day. Microsoft also shared an in-depth look at upcoming Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 via a campaign trailer and announced new coming-of-age game Mixtape, soundtracked by the likes of Devo, Roxy Music, The Smashing Pumpkins, Lush, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Joy Division.
