Pocketpair has confirmed that a recent Palworld update is causing issues with multiplayer save data for Xbox users.
Palworld’s V0.2.0.6 update was released for Steam last week and came to Xbox yesterday (April 9). However, it was quickly reported that the new patch was causing issues “where multiplayer player save data is not being loaded correctly when multiplayer save data from an older version is loaded.”
Many Xbox players reported that they were asked to create a new character after updating Palworld and logging onto a multiplayer server, which would permanently delete their previous progress.
“This issue is currently being investigated by the development team. In the meantime, we apologise but please do not try to load multiplayer data on Xbox,” said Pocketpair.

The studio has since confirmed that they have “identified the cause” of the problem and are currently “developing a patch to fix this issue”.
However, they advise Xbox players to not load the affected save data until the patch is released.
“Multiplayer save data created in a multiplayer game after Xbox version v0.2.0.6 will no longer be able to be loaded after the above patch is released,” they added. “We are really sorry for this inconvenience and ask that you try to not load any multiplayer data until this fix is applied soon.”
The V0.2.0.6 update introduced the first raid boss to Palworld alongside several new items.

Last month, Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe confirmed the studio is in talks to launch Palworld on “more platforms” and said the reason for its popularity was multiplayer. “Games are most fun when playing with friends,” he said. “A game without a multiplayer mode just doesn’t feel right in the era we live in today.”
Meanwhile, it’s been suggested that Palworld’s April Fools’ day dating sim expansion could become a reality.
