Kyle Richards opened up about her separation from Mauricio Umansky while appearing on Amazon Live on Wednesday.
Following their family vacation in Europe with daughters Alexia Umansky, 27, Sophia Umansky, 23, and Portia Umansky, 15, and Kyle’s oldest, Farrah Aldjufrie, 34, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 54, admitted that when it comes to her and Mauricio’s marital drama playing out in the spotlight, things haven’t been easy for the two of them.
In early July, amid swirling rumors regarding the nature of Kyle’s relationship with country singer Morgan Wade, 28, an insider told PEOPLE that Kyle and Mauricio, 53, had been separated for a while.
“Kyle and Mauricio have been separated for a while now but are still living under the same roof. They remain amicable as they figure out what’s next for them and their family,” the source shared.
But following the report, Kyle and Mauricio insisted in a joint statement on Instagram that they were not getting a divorce.
“In regards to the news that came out about us today… Any claims regarding us divorcing are untrue. However, yes, we have had a rough year,” they wrote. “The most challenging one of our marriage. But we both love and respect each other tremendously. There has been no wrongdoing on anyone’s part. Although we are in the public eye, we ask to be able to work through our issues privately. While it may be entertaining to speculate, please do not create false stories to fit a further salacious narrative.”
Since then, the couple has made a number of loved-up appearances together, including a recent “cozy” outing in Aspen, where they own a vacation home.
As Kyle and Mauricio’s marriage issues are expected to be a hot topic when RHOBH returns for its 13th season, especially considering cameras picked back up upon the news of their separation, Kyle has stayed fairly mum in regard to where they stand today.
That said, on Amazon Live on Wednesday, Kyle did respond to a “loaded” question from a fan in regard to their separation.
“Um, we’re doing… You know, listen, that’s a very loaded question but, you know, this has been very hard to do playing out with so many people having eyes on us and being in the public eye,” she admitted, as seen in a video shared by The Real Housewives Zone on Instagram.
“Obviously we care about each other a lot. You saw [us] on vacation and that’s what I’m gonna share,” she added.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 13 is expected to begin airing on Bravo later this year.
