Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann are no longer following one another on Instagram.
As the Real Housewives of Atlanta star and her former NFL player spouse continue to live together in their Georgia home amid their divorce and potentially impending custody battle, an insider claims Kim and Kroy are doing their best to keep from crossing paths.
“[They’re] avoiding each other,” an insider told Us Weekly on May 11. “It’s a big house.”
According to reports, Kim and Kroy have continued to live with one another at their mansion post-split, potentially to make it easier for their four youngest children, 11-year-old Kroy “KJ” Jagger, 10-year-old Kash Kade, and nine-year-old twins Kaia and Kane, to cope with their split.
The estranged couple also shares Brielle, 26, and Ariana, 21, who Kim welcomed during previous relationships and Kroy adopted in 2013.
After Kim filed documents to end her marriage to Kroy over the weekend, Kroy filed paperwork of his own, petitioning to end their 11-year marriage and requesting he be granted full physical and legal custody of their minor children.
Kroy also asked the court to allow him to retain ownership of their home, meaning that he wants Kim to move out.
As insiders have shared with Us Weekly, the decision to end their marriage was “not an overnight situation” for Kim and Kroy, and Kim “never complained to anyone” about their relationship, which has left many of their friends in shock.
As for what may have led up to their filings, money has been a hot topic, especially after it was revealed that Kim and Kroy, who faced foreclosure earlier this year, owe $1.1 million to the IRS and an additional $15,000 to the state of Georgia in unpaid taxes.
“The financial burdens have been a strain on their relationship,” one source shared. “Between the tax debt and other financial stresses, it’s been difficult. The tax debt was the straw that broke the camel’s back in their marriage.”
As Kim and Kroy reportedly avoid each other at home, they have also cut ties on social media, with neither party following the other on Instagram.
But while Kroy is no longer following Kim, he continues to follow all of their children, including his adopted adult daughters, Brielle and Ariana, the first of whom seemed to unfollow him earlier this week.
